ROC in CLE 2021: A Landmark Event for Conservation and Music Fans Alike

October 20, 2021 - October 23, 2021

ROC in CLE 2021 was a milestone event for the Western Reserve Land Conservancy and a thrilling night for fans of the band Train. This fundraiser, dedicated to planting trees across Greater Cleveland, culminated in a music festival on Saturday night at the Bolton Estate in Mentor. The festival featured performances by several local groups, with Train headlining the event.

The concept for ROC in CLE originated from discussions between the Land Conservancy and Scott and Julie Mawaka. “When we learned about what the Land Conservancy was doing in and around the Cleveland area, we knew partnering with them would be a great fit,” said Scott Mawaka. “Over the years we’ve partnered with many local charities to raise awareness and provide support. This year we are so excited to host tree plantings, organize this great panel discussion, and host a world-class concert event. We’re going to generate funding for the Land Conservancy to continue their great work providing the people of our region with essential natural assets through land conservation and restoration.”

The event kicked off on Thursday with a ceremonial tree planting in Public Square, marking the beginning of a weekend filled with activities focused on enhancing Cleveland’s urban landscape. ROC in CLE 2021 not only brought the community together through music and celebration but also made a significant impact on the city’s environmental health and beauty.
